Tonight I tried “Smoking Loon Merlot” and it was just what I needed after a long day in the nursing world.
This Merlot from Smoking Loon is a medium bodied wine with a dry finish. I loved the dark aroma and fruity finish. This Merlot was easy to drink and for around $10 you can not beat the price.
This Merlot would certainly pair well with a wide variety of foods from Pasta to steak but it is just as easy to drink it by itself.
The great part about the vintage 2013 is that after research I learned that Chile had a slow cool growing season that year. Which means the season resulted in wines with fresh acidity and balanced tannins.
I am always interested in the different vintages and what they mean for not only that area where the grapes grew but how different the wines can be as a result.
Smoking Loon was founded in 2000 with the simple premise
“good wine doesn’t need to take itself so seriously”
I am looking forward to trying other Smoking Loon wines and will be buying this Merlot again.
